Project Description
The Accident Compensation Conciliation Service (ACCS) is a statutory body established under the Accident Compensation Act 1985.
The ACCS provides an independent service that uses the principles of Alternative Dispute Resolution to resolve workers compensation disputes in Victoria.
The ACCS facilitates the resolution of disputes by involving all parties – Workers, Employers and WorkSafe Agents or Self-Insurers – in a process that is fair, economical, informal and quick.
ACCS’s website was a static three-page brochure site hosted on IBM WCM and was built and never updated since 2002. There was a desperate need to bring the website into modern times as ACCS was handling way too many inbound calls from users seeking more information regarding conciliation services.
ACCS had a zero budget for this project and so acquired the services of Steve Wardle through WorkSafe Victoria as a digital partner.
The new website would be hosted on the WorkSafe instance of Squiz Matrix, and after launch, the team at ACCS would manage and update the website themselves.
Steve’s role in this job was multifunctional including project management, business requirements gathering, user research, wireframing, design, prototyping, development, and then trained the ACCS staff in Squiz Matrix.
This job was a lean agile UX project and required Steve to do a lot of the groundwork on site at ACCS. Business analysis, user requirements gathering, task analysis, site mapping and wireframing were all done in group sessions at the ACCS offices in Melbourne. A high fidelity prototype was presented to ACCS stakeholders at the two-week mark, and the completed website was launched two weeks after that.
The final website is built using the bootstrap framework on Squiz Matrix CMS and includes some very technical features including responsive design and a nifty suggestive search.
