Project Description

In The Skeleton Project, three Victorian CEO’s go ‘undercover’ in their workplaces to better understand safety from their workers’ perspectives and explore the role workplace culture plays in creating a safe working environment.

The brief was to create a multimedia driven experience which supports the TVC and radio in captivating the undercover boss experience.

This website was built in 2011, before HTML5 and h264, and in an age where video capabilities online were confined to playing embedded youtube files. Using flash allowed us to stream large video files from one location while providing a platform to host downloadable information (safety solutions) and posters, which business could use to minimise incidents in the workplace.

The project had originally gone to market and because of the three-week deadline, no agency could manage that short timeframe.

Steve Wardle, had a hand in writing the brief and deliverable, and at that time had already supplied quality flash applications to WorkSafe. Steve designed and built an initial prototype and after a quick round of successful user testing went ahead and produced this high-quality flash/XML application with a custom video player. The project launched on time and the Victorian public loved it, getting thousands of visits in the first few hours of air time. The app was at the time featured in the media and on some prestigious Webby award sites.
